EPA History
Engineering Products was founded in 1957 by William Butler who was one of the original engineers with Engineering Research Associates, a company founded after World War II to design and build main frame digital computers. ERA proved to be the wellspring for Minnesota's computer industry, and spawned many successors in related industries. Engineering Products Associates proudly takes its legacy from the same foundation as Remington Rand Univac (now Unisys), Control Data Corporation, Cray Research, Network Systems (now Storage Tech), and many other high visibility companies.
Mr. Butler perceived that the advent of the computer revolution would create a high demand for a wide range of electronic products and services. Engineering Products Associates met those demands by emphasizing excellence, precision detail to customer needs, and high integrity. The industry has changed dramatically, and Mr. Butler, along with his first successor, Robert Borey, have since retired. However, they would be pleased to know that these established traditions continue to be the mission guidelines which have made EPA one of the foremost manufacturers' representatives in the country.
